See what an FP&A deliverable should actually tell you.
These simplified examples demonstrate the structure and questions behind our work. Figures and situations are hypothetical; these are not client results or copies of confidential deliverables.
Four practical reporting formats
Monthly performance pack
Hypothetical: Revenue $2.4m versus $2.5m plan; gross margin 41% versus 43% plan.
The decision: Is the miss caused by volume, mix, or pricing—and who owns the corrective action?
Typical output: Scorecard, driver bridge, management commentary, and owner/action log.
Rolling forecast
Hypothetical: New hiring assumptions change next-quarter operating expense by $120k.
The decision: Maintain the hiring plan, phase it, or revise spending elsewhere?
Typical output: Baseline, revised assumptions, forecast bridge, scenarios, and update calendar.
Cash flow outlook
Hypothetical: A large customer payment moves four weeks later than expected.
The decision: Which commitments need revised timing or contingency planning?
Typical output: Cash-in/cash-out forecast, timing sensitivities, and liquidity watchpoints.
Board reporting summary
Hypothetical: Performance is behind plan but operating cash is improving.
The decision: Which tradeoffs require board discussion or approval?
Typical output: Executive conclusion, KPI trend, risks, options, and decision request.
Final outputs, data sources, systems, frequency, and sign-off requirements depend on an agreed scope of work. No example here represents a guaranteed result.
