Financial modeling & model readiness

A model for the decision.
A process for what comes next.

Get a focused analysis for a decision in front of you, or build a forecast your team can refresh and explain. We can do the work or guide your team through it.

Scope, inputs and delivery dates agreed before work begins.

Two ways to work with us

Get the work done.
Or build the capability.

You may need additional modeling capacity, an independent review, or support for the analyst building the forecast. We agree who does what and what a successful handoff looks like.

Illustrative model delivery: source data and assumptions connect to an operating outlook

Build or improve our model.

Bring the business question, an existing model, or a forecasting process that needs attention. We define the work and deliver the agreed analysis or model.

  • Focused decision and scenario analysis
  • Recurring revenue, headcount and cash models
  • Model repair, validation and refresh procedures

Illustrative team guidance: build capability, review the model and transfer ownership

Guide our finance team.

Your team builds and maintains the model. We help structure the approach, challenge assumptions and review the work at agreed checkpoints.

  • Model architecture and driver selection
  • Reconciliation and assumption reviews
  • Practical coaching and a tested team handoff

Match the work to its intended use

What does the model
need to do?

A one-time decision and a monthly forecasting process require different work. We establish the intended use before choosing the scope.

What we buildA bounded analysis with scenarios, sensitivities and explicit assumptions.A maintainable model with defined drivers, refresh steps and exception checks.
Evidence & uncertaintyAvailable evidence, reconciled where possible; unresolved items clearly identified.Validated inputs where available; remaining assumptions have owners and review triggers.
Completion testThe analysis answers the agreed question within its stated limits. The team can refresh the model, reconcile results and explain changes.

Provisional does not mean careless. It means some evidence or assumptions remain unresolved. A recurring forecast can also carry uncertainty—as long as its treatment is visible and accepted.

Already have a model?

Find out what you
can rely on.

A working spreadsheet can look finished before its inputs, assumptions and refresh process have been tested.

Our Model Readiness Review assesses an existing model—including AI-assisted builds—against its intended use. You receive specific findings, limits on use and a prioritized repair plan.

Do the numbers reconcile?

Trace source totals, mappings, gaps and possible double counting.

What is evidence, and what is assumed?

Identify material estimates, their rationale and who accepts them.

Does the scope answer the question?

Check that the model includes the drivers and business activity needed for its intended use.

Can someone else run it?

Test refresh steps, exception handling and the team’s ability to explain changes.

AI assistance. Clear responsibilities.

Agree the deadline.
Understand what it buys.

AI can accelerate calculations, transformations and testing. Contract interpretation, missing evidence and business acceptance still need attention. We make those dependencies part of the plan.

Define the deliverable

Agree the decision, model boundaries, checks and acceptance criteria. An urgent analysis can have a narrower scope than an ongoing forecast.

Check the inputs

Review source availability and client capacity before committing to timing. Separate hands-on work from time waiting for information or decisions.

Bound the investigation

Set checkpoints for uncertain items. Agree whether to investigate further, use an explicit assumption or narrow the model’s use.

Find the right starting point

What is on
your desk?

Choose the situation closest to yours. We will use the first conversation to define the question, available inputs and a sensible scope.

This selector suggests a starting point; it does not assess your model.

A modeling scoping conversation

Bring the decision, the deadline and a description of the data available. We will establish whether you need a focused analysis, a recurring model or repairs to an existing build.

Before we start

A few practical questions.

Can you deliver a model within hours?

A narrowly defined analysis may be suitable for a short turnaround when usable inputs are available. We review the question and data before agreeing a delivery window. A recurring model requires additional validation, refresh testing and handoff work.

Can you review something our team built using AI?

Yes. The review focuses on intended use, source reconciliation, calculations, assumptions and repeatability. The method used to build the model does not replace those checks.

What if our data is messy or the business owner is unavailable?

We identify the material gaps and agree a bounded investigation. Items that cannot be resolved remain explicit assumptions or limitations. Decisions requiring business acceptance stay with an agreed client owner.

Will our team be able to maintain the model?

For recurring builds and guided engagements, we agree documentation, ownership and handoff requirements at the start. The practical test is whether your team can complete the next refresh and explain the results.

Bring the question. Bring the spreadsheet.
